Chase Utley extended his hitting streak to 34 games as the Phillies blew out the Cardinals 16-8.

Utley was 0-for-4 before he beat out an infield single in the eighth to keep his streak going. The official scorer initially ruled the play a fielder’s choice but changed his decision after reviewing the play several times. Utley is just four games away from tying the franchise record set by teammate Jimmy Rollins.

Rollins and David DeLucci each had three hits to go along with three RBI. Mike Lieberthal also had three hits. Rollins led off the game with a homer and later another in the ninth. St. Louis native, Ryan Howard, chipped in with two hits but did drive in three RBI.

The Cardinals have lost six straight, and will try to avoid a second straight series sweep in Game three of the series tonight.
