The United States Senate has passed Senator Talent’s bill making it a federal crime to take a minor across a state line for an abortion without parental consent. Talent co-sponsors the bill with Kansas Senator Sam Brownback, a fellow Republican. The bill is similar to a state law. Opponents say the proposal endangers minors who are victims of parental sexual abuse. The US House has yet to approve the proposal.
