Rockbridge High School quarterback Logan Gray will announce today he’ll be attending the University of Georgia in 2007.

Gray is rated the No. 2 overall recruit in the state and is one of the top 10 quarterbacks in the nation. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound signal caller participated in the EA Sports Elite 11, an event that gathers the top 11 high school senior quarterbacks for a weekend of instruction and fun.

His decision came down the recent success of the Bulldog program. Georgia is a member of the Southeastern Conference – always rated among the top football conferences – and has played in the SEC championship game three of the past four years. Gray was recruited by about 21 other Division-1 schools, but the final two schools were Auburn and Georgia.

The Columbia-grown athlete was recruited by University of Missouri, but didn’t feel like the Tigers matched up well as a team against the Bulldogs.

In two years at Rock Bridge, Gray has thrown for 4,198 yards and 41 touchdowns. He very well could pass the school records held by current Mizzou QB Chase Patton.

Gray will be entering a Bulldogs team that is stacked at the quarterback position, but feels his running ability will give him an edge against the pro-style pocket passers already on the Athens campus.
