University of Missouri officials say 2,000 scholarships available for the coming school year went unclaimed. It is the first year the university has offered scholarships as part of the $10-Million fund set up to settle a class action lawsuit. Nearly 3,000 students were awarded $500 scholarships, but enough money was in the fund to award slightly more than 2,000 more scholarships. The deadline to apply for this year as expired. Unused money will revert to the fund. Nearly 5,000 scholarships are available for the 2007 school year. The fund is set to last 25 years.
