Governor Matt Blunt has issued an executive order to change the way in which payments from the settlement with the big tobacco companies are administered. Under the Holden Administration, several accounts had been created for managing the $140-Million per year the state received from “Big Tobacco.” The change will replace five accounts with one to be known as the Healthy Families Trust Fund, which will receive and distribute funds from the settlement. Blunt expects the oversight and management changes to result in an annual savings of close to $460,000.
