Seven games into the second half of the Texas League season and the Springfield Cardinals don’t seem to have woken up from the all-star break. They suffered a five-hit shut out from Chance Douglass, losing to Corpus Christi 8-0 Wednesday.

The loss helped the Hooks (6-1) complete a three-game sweep and move a game ahead of San Antonio in the TL South.

Douglass (5-2) pitched a complete game striking out 10 batters along the way. He sprinkled four singles and a triple, but never walked a batter as Corpus Christ won its fourth straight.

Jorge Cortes extended his hitting streak to a Minor League season best 24 games going 2-for-4 for the Hooks. He’s raised his batting average more than 40 points during the stretch.

Cardinals starter Chris Lambert got the loss allowing eight runs on eight hits in just 4 2/3 innings. Springfield has lost five in a row.
