A college student in Fulton will get to stay another year in this country. Westminster College officials say Marie Gonzalez was notified by Illinois Senator Dick Durbin that she has been granted a year extension to continue her studies. She became embroiled in a controversy a couple of years ago when her parents were slated for deportation back to Costa Rica. She had come to the United States when she was just five when her parents illegally immigrated to this country. They were finally deported a year ago.
