Four Springfield Cardinals will play in today’s Texas League All Star game in Little Rock, AR.

Outfielder Reid Gorecki is the only Cardinals chosen to start in the game. Third baseman Rico Washington will join pitchers Stuart Pomeranz and Mark Worrell III as reserves on the North team.

Gorecki is hitting .244 with 14 home runs and 40 RBIs.

Washington has a .323 batting average. He’s belted 13 homers and leads the team with 56 RBIs and 23 doubles.

Pomeranz won his first six decisions before tapering off of late. He has a 7-2 record with a 3.71 ERA. Pomeranz is one of the St. Louis Cardinals hottest prospects.

Worrell has been more than effective as a closer. He leads the Texas League with 19 saves.

Springfield finished the first half of the season one game behind champion Tulsa. The Cardinals had a chance to win the title in the last game of the first half but lost to the Drillers 8-1.
