A host of veterans’ legislation is signed into law by Governor Matt Blunt, including bills to help veterans in need to access governmental benefits. One bill, sponsored by Kansas City Representative Michael Brown, allows homeless veterans to use the post office box of an established charity as an address on forms necessary to receive state and federal governmental benefits. Brown says it will help veterans access services for the needs they have. Another bill calls for the state to help qualified Medicaid recipients access Veterans Administration benefits. Another bill offers help such as daycare, transportation, training and vocational counseling for the family members of National Guard and reserve service members called to active duty.
