The baseball steroid scandal just won’t go away. It has spread past the superstars and made household names out of professional nobodies.

Former Royals pitcher Jason Grimsley is the latest average baseball player whose name is being smeared on almost every television station in America. The right hander admitted to federal investigators that he used anabolic steroids, amphetamines, and human growth hormones. He even failed a drug test in 2003 as a member of the Royals.

According to ESPN, Grimsley has named other players involved in illegal drug use. The names of those players have not been released. The only thing known for sure is Grimsley has said the involved players are close friends.

Grimsley requested a release from the Diamondbacks after federal agents searched his home Tuesday. Arizona granted his request.

The former Kansas City pitcher played for the Royals between 2001 and 2004. In four seasons with the Royals, Grimsley was 10-21 as a reliever. His best ERA in Kansas City came in 2001 when he posted a 3.02 ERA.
