The Secretary of State’s office is warning about alternative energy scams that could be coming to the state. Robin Carnahan says the rise in gas and oil prices brings a natural rise in the interest in alternative sources of energy and the investment in those alternatives. But Carnahan says it also brings scammers who are trying to rip-off investors. Carnahan says investors should first check to see if the investment is registered through her office. If it’s not, that should be a red flag warning. She says investors should also use some common sense. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.
