It’s commonly known in baseball that if you walk the first batter in the inning he’s probably going to come around and score.

Springfield Cardinals reliever Justin Garza opened the eighth inning of a tied game walking Midlands Jed Morris. Vasili Spanos doubled to left field driving in Morris and putting the RockHounds ahead 4-3 for good.

Both teams got on the board early scoring a run each in the first inning. Springfield went on to score two more in the third before they were shut down the rest of the night. Midland tied the game with single runs in the third and fourth.

Chris Lambert started for the Cardinals giving up three runs on five hits in seven innings.

Rico Washington went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Springfield.

Despite the loss, the Cardinals are still a game up on Tulsa in the Texas League North standings.
