Thirteen people have been rescued from a sinking boat on Alton Lake, which is north of St. Louis. The State Water Patrol says a 24-foot deck boat started sinking after pulling away from a sandbar. A Coast Guard auxiliary and passing boaters resued everybody without injury before the boat went under. The boat operator has been cited for drunken boating and having an overloaded boat.
