Two of the six initiative petitions submitted to the Secretary of State’s office will not appear on the November ballot. Mike Seitz with the Office says Secretary of State Robin Carnahan has determined the eminent domain initiative and the initiative to limit the growth of government spending do not meet certain statutory requirements necessary for processing and placement on the ballot. The organization behind the efforts – Missourians in Charge – did not group the signature pages by county and did not number the pages sequentially, which is required. So, the petitions are rejected. The spending limitation initiative was already being legally challenged. A Cole County judge had promised to issue an order on at least part of that challenge sometime Friday. Missourians in Charge has the option of appealing this decision in the courts. But as things stand now, these initiatives will not appear on the November ballot.
