Barry Bonds is still tied with the Babe on the all-time home runs list.

Albert Pujols is creating a lot of distance between himself and the rest of the league for home runs this season.

Former Cardinals pitcher Matt Morris felt the wrath of his ex-team giving up four earned runs in six innings including a three-run homer to Pujols.

David Eckstein and Scott Spiezio hit back-to-back singles to start the game for the Cardinals. Pujols, who had never hit a home run in San Francisco, quickly removed that asterisk from his name belting a 2-0 pitch over the wall in left field.

Jason Marquis entered the game having already given up two home runs to Bonds in six career at bats. Tuesday, however, Bonds was held to 1-for-4 with an RBI but no real damage done.

Jason Isringhausen retired the last two Giants batters to get his 15th save of the year.

Juan Encarnacion had a big game driving in three runs.

The Giants didn’t help themselves or Morris any… They committed two errors that led to three runs in the game.

St. Louis led the whole game. The Giants got to within one run after scoring two in their half of the first. The Redbirds scored runs in the first, third, fifth, seventh, and eighth innings.

Pujols now leads the majors in RBIs (57), home runs (23), and runs (48).

The Cardinals are 30-16 and in first place in the National League Central.
