One name St. Louis Cardinals fans should remember is Stuart Pomeranz. The starting pitcher for the Double-A Springfield Cardinals is tearing up the competition.

Pomeranz pitched seven innings giving up one run on three hits to lead the Cards past Midland 2-1 Monday. So far this season, the staff ace is unbeaten at 6-0 with a 3.00 ERA. Mark Worrell III is also enjoying a fine season on the mound for Springfield. He pitched a 1-2-3 ninth inning to earn his 12th save of the year.

The Cardinals scored all the runs they needed in the second inning. Brian Martin doubled to advance Josh Pressley to third. Midland pitcher Ray Aguilar threw a wild pitch scoring Pressley and Martin later scored on a groundout by Rayner Laya.

Springfield is 26-16 and holds a slim two game lead over Tulsa in the Texas League North standings.
