The State Agriculture Director is still not talking. And, the Executive Director of the state’s Human Rights Commission cannot say what led to Agriculture Director Fred Ferrell being put on a two-week administrative leave. Donna Cavitte says the law covers a lot of areas, including what she or others can say about any case. Cavitte says there are quite a few complaints that come through her office. But the law prevents Cavitte from saying if any of these led to something that Ferrell apologized for in a written statement. In fact, Cavitte cannot even acknowledge whether a complaint came through her office – at least not yet. She says if the matter is closed and both sides agree, her commission could release the information. A spokesman in the Governor’s office says the matter is closed, but Ferrell is still not commenting.
