Sometimes change is good and that’s exactly what the Springfield Cardinals needed. After losing four straight to Wichita, the Cards moved on to Arkansas to face the Travelers.

Finally, there was a different result. The Cardinals were able to get back on the winning side with an 8-4 win on the road.

Nick Stavinoha rocked a three-run homer in the fifth to spark a four-run inning. Springfield surrounded that inning with runs in the first, second, and seventh innings. They led 7-0 after Stavinoha’s third home run of the season.

Springfield jumped on Travelers starter Chris Hunter early. Mike McCoy wasted little time before doubling to open the game. Rico Washington singled McCoy home to give the Cardinals the lead 1-0.

Springfield came right back in the second to score again on a two out two-run triple by Reid Gorecki.

Stuart Pomeranz pitched seven innings giving up three runs on four hits to stay unbeaten at 5-0.

Mark Worrell III earned his 10th save after facing just one batter.
