The Springfield Cardinals self destructed once, regained themselves, then self destructed again.

They never recovered after the second time losing to Wichita for the second straight game 7-6.

Springfield led 6-4 in the bottom of the ninth, but could not hold on for the win. Cardinals closer Mark Worrell Jr. gave up a leadoff home run to Mitch Maier and a bases loaded walk to Angel Sanchez to tie the game. Alex Gordon, a power hitter, patiently waited for the right pitch he could drive somewhere to bring in the winning run. The pitch never came and Gordon walked with the bases loaded to end the game.

Springfield seemingly took control of the game scoring six runs in the third. Rico Washington, Juan Richardson, Brian Martin, and Gabe Johnson all drove in runs in the inning.

The first of the Cardinals self destructions came when they allowed four Wranglers runs to score in the fifth.

John Gragg got the win. He pitched the ninth inning giving up no runs and just one walk. Starter Juan Cedeno was taken out after the third inning when he gave up all six of the runs and walked four batters.

Wichita managed to steal the victory despite committing three errors.
