All good things must come to an end. The Springfield Cardinals had their good thing, a five game winning streak, come to an end in a 5-1 loss to the Wichita Wranglers.

Billy Butler knocked in three runs by himself for the Wranglers. Angel Sanchez scored on all three of Butler’s RBIs. Twice on sacrifice flies and once on an RBI single.

Donnie Murphy hit a solo homer in the sixth for Wichita.

Seung Song pitched five innings of one run ball. He gave up three hits and struck out two.

The Wranglers used three pitchers to shut down the Cardinals the rest of the way. Springfield only got one hit the final four innings.

Cardinals starter Rich Rundles got credit for ending the streak. He gave up five runs in six innings.

The winning streak wasn’t the only streak that ended either. Springfield’s Iker Franco was riding a 14-game hitting streak, but that was snapped after he went 0-for-4.

The Cards dropped to 21-13, but they still lead the Texas League North standings by three games.
