The Royals signed free agent reliever Chris Booker from the Phillies. Booker started the season in the minors on a rehabilitation assignment and was released following that assignment. Booker has been a professional baseball player for 12 years, but he has just three major league-appearances under his belt. All three came with the Reds last season. The Royals will move either Joel Peralta or Steve Andrade to the minors to make room for him on their roster.
