The state has sent a check to a Montana woman for $223.51 to pay for the inconvenience she suffered last Summer. Sharon Rivera’s phone number was erroneously listed as a hotline to be called by Medicaid recipients losing their state services. She had sent the Department of Social Services a bill, charging 25-cents a minute for her time. She tells the Kansas City Star the phone rang continuously for several days. She says she fielded 1,115 calls and spent almost 13 hours retrieving voice-mail messages or talking to callers. In fact, she says, she got a call last Tuesday from a Missouri Medicaid recipient.
