The stadium lights briefly went out in Florida. But when the power restored, the Cardinals had just enough energy to snap its four game losing streak beating the Marlins 7-2. The 18-minute delay in the fourth inning seemed to be just what the Cardinals needed to wake up. Scoreless after four innings, Albert Pujols came up to bat with runners on first and second and nobody out. Marlins right hander Sergio Mitre didn’t even have time to think before Pujols lined the first pitch over the fence in right field. Pujols now has 16 homers and leads the Majors in that category. The Cardinals went on to score four more runs in the inning. Starter Jeff Suppan held up his end of the bargain giving up just two runs on five hits in 8 1/3 innings. Suppan improved his record to 3-2 with a 4.46 ERA. Josh Hancock came in for relief and gave up a hit before finally getting the final two outs.The Cardinals are 18-12 and in third place in the National League Central.
