Chris Carpenter tossed eight shutout innings to lead the Cardinals to a 4-0 win over Pittsburgh on Wednesday afternoon. Carpenter allowed just two hits and struck out six to earn his second win of the season. Jim Edmonds provided most of the offense with a solo home run in the second and a two-run double in the ninth. David Eckstein added a solo home run, his first of the year, in the third. The Cardinals won two of three in the series and improved to 32-11 at PNC Park.
