The State Senate has tentatively approved a re-classification of dams in Missouri and has broadened state inspection powers over them. The state now inspects dams that are more than 35 feet high. Senator Kevin Engler’s bill would allow inspections of dams 25 feet high, holding back at least 50 acre-feet of water. His bill was drafted after the Taum Sauk Reservoir collapse last winter.
