The Chiefs signed free agent cornerback Chris Johnson on Thursday to a two-year deal. Johnson played with the Rams in 2005, making 25 tackles in 14 games. He made one start at cornerback, but was perhaps most useful on special teams. Johnson returned 38 kickoffs for 857 yards.

Johnson was taken in the seventh round of the 2003 draft by the Packers and spent two years in Green Bay, but never appeared in a game. He was traded to the Rams last season.

The Chiefs are in need of help in their secondary after opting not to re-sign cornerbacks Eric Warfield and Dexter McCleon.
