In addition to the candidates on November’s ballot, Missouri voters could see a rather large number of ballot initiatives. Eighteen initiatives have already been approved for circulation, meaning signatures can be collected, and two more could be given the green light in the coming days. That’s considerably more than the ten or so in a typical election year. Mike Seitz with the Secretary of State’s Office points out approval to collect signatures is different from getting the issue on the ballot. Two is considered a high number of initiatives on any ballot. Time is running out for any new initiatives because the process takes about thirty days and the deadline to submit signatures is May 9th.
