State lawmakers are considering doubling the incentive for Missourians to purchase long-term care insurance. The House has approved and sent to the Senate a bill that would increase the state income tax deduction for such coverage from the current 50 percent to 100 percent of the premium. The Legislature has two purposes in pushing such legislation: It would provide an incentive for Missourians to purchase long-term care and it would take pressure off the state from providing such care.
