The cable television competition bill is dead in the State Senate for this year. Sponsor John Griesheimer has never been able to get a floor vote on any of the 19 versions of the bill he’s worked on this year. Cape Girardeau Senator Jason Crowell had charged Griesheimer’s final bill would have damaged the sanctity of contracts – by letting cable companies unilaterally cancel agreements with cities whenever a phone company started offering cable service there.
