The Public Service Commission and the state’s largest utility have reached an agreement on the company rolling back the fees charged at grocery stores, gas stations, and other pay stations through the state. Last June, AmerenUE raised the fees it charges to some customers and started charging fees to customers who had previously been spared any charges. PSC Chairman Jeff Davis says his agency received some complaints and threatened legal action. Davis says the PSC had the authority to step in because Ameren is a publicly regulated company and because the PSC had granted the utility a recent rate increase while agreeing not to raise the fees.
