The Doe Run lead company has started collecting soil samples from 275 properties, including schools and playgrounds, in Viburnum. Doe Run is doing it under orders form the EPA. Lead has been mined in the area for more than 40 years. If elevated levels of lead are found in the soil, more tests will be ordered, icnluding blood tests.
