It looks like Steve Alford will be staying put. A day after it was learned that the University of Iowa had granted the University of Missouri permission to talk to Alford about the head coaching vacancy in Columbia, Alford announced that he plans on remaining in Iowa City.On the University of Iowa website, Alford said, “I’m the head coach at Iowa. My family and I love the Iowa program and the community.” “We had a record-setting season with a second Big Ten Tournament championship and I look forward to continued success with this program.”He added that he hadn’t scheduled any interviews. The Kansas City Star reported this morning that the MU has asked for and received permission to talk with UAB head coach Mike Anderson. He was a long-time assistant under Nolan Richardson at Arkansas and has guided the Blazers to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances.
