Most of Missouri seemed to escape the brunt of the winter storm that rolled through the Midwest this week, as has been the case most of this winter. Jim Carney, the State Transportation Department’s maintenance engineer, says the good weather has given them a chance to move up the timetable of smoothing out more than two thousand miles of roads in the state to the end of this year. Carney says the road salt bought for this Winter will just carry over to next Winter’s efforts, or maybe even for an early Spring snow and ice storm the state could still see.
