Missouri’s junior U.S. Senator files for re-election, stressing his ability to “get the job done” in Washington. Into his fourth year in the job, Senator Talent wants another six years. With his name on the August Republican Primary ballot, Talent would be expected to win and move on to face the likely winner of the Democratic Primary – State Auditor Claire McCaskill – in November. Talent says certain issues could stand out in the campaign – but he believes Missourians will be voting on a total package. One of the single issues that has already come up is stem cell research. Talent says he’s made clear his position that cloning should be banned while research moves forward. The Primary elections are set for August 8th.
