The State Senate has passed a bill protecting public school teachers and adminsitrators who want to post important historical documents in classrooms, even if the documents contain religious references. St. Charles Senator Chuck Gross says the Founding Documents Protection Act focuses on the historical value of the documents. Among the documents allowed: The preamble to the Missouri Constitution; the Declaration of Independence; the Constitution of the United States; the Mayflower Compact; the National Motto (In God We Trust); the National Anthem; the Pledge of Allegiance; the writings, speeches, documents, and proclamations of the founding fathers and Presidents of the United States; the writings, speeches, and documents relating to civil rights leaders of the USA; the writings, speeches, and documents relating to the signers of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States; the decisions of the US Supreme Court; and Acts of Congress, including the published text of the Congressional Record.
