The tornadoes and fierce storms that battered Missouri over the weekend have brought out an unwanted, but not unexpected element. Missourians are being advised to watch out for con artists who are engaged in such things as home-repair rip-off. Travis Ford, the Consumer Education Coordinator for the Attorney General’s Office, says these scammers look at human misery as an opportunity to strike. Ford says consumers should be suspicious of workers who solicit business door-to-door, those who don’t carry identification, and anyone who asks for full payment in advance. The Office’s Consumer Protection Hotline is 800-392-8222.
