In 2004 and 2005, Incarnate Word Academy of St. Louis advanced to the MSHSAA Class 5 Girls Show-Me Showdown and finished third both times. That won’t happen in 2006. The Red Knights earned a spot in the championship game with a decisive 62-32 win over Jefferson City in the semifinals Friday.

Incarnate Word led by as many as 24 points in the first half, when senior center Felicia Chester hit a free throw to give the Red Knights a 33-9 lead with 4:13 to go in the second quarter. They went into the locker room with a 36-17 advantage

Chester was 10-for-14 from the field and led all scorers with 24 points and grabbed eight rebounds. Ashlee Barret was the second-leading scorer for the Red Knights with 16.

Jefferson City’s leading scorer was Brianna Culberson, who had nine and pulled down nine rebounds. The Lady Jays ended their season with a record of 24-6.

Incarnate Word improved to 30-1.
