A confrontation outside the Capitol as Governor Blunt prepares to sign the funeral protest bill. A few members of the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas travel to Jefferson City to protest the signing of a bill that would restrict their ability to protest at the funerals of soldiers. A young man confronting the protestor declined to give his name. The protestors held signs declaring “Missouri Taliban,” “God Hates Fags,” and the like. Their protest at the funeral of a St. Joseph soldier who had fought in Iraq prompted the Legislature to move quickly on the bill that would restrict such protests.
