CLASS 2—Platte County won its second straight Class 2 title and its fifth state championship in school history. Surprisingly, not one Platte County wrestler won an individual title, but seven of their wrestlers finished in second, third or fourth place in the 14 classes. Platte County’s Jake Mallonee seemed to be the favorite in the 275 lb. class, he entered the championship with a perfect 42-1 record, but lost to Ben Hohensee of Monett. Platte County’s other second-place finisher was Tyler St. Louis, who lost to Mitchell Bainbridge in the 130 lb. championship. Monett, which finished in second place had three individual state title winners.
