Missouri’s debate over stem cell research could come down to faith, rather than science. Doctor Steven Teitelbaum of Washington University in St. Louis, a supporter of a form of stem cell research known as Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer, says it all comes down to a belief in when human life begins. Doctor Richard Chole of Washington University in St. Louis, representing Missourians Against Human Cloning, says Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer – SCNT – is a form of human cloning because it involves the creation of a cloned human being at the embryonic stage. Doctor Chole insists the argument over when life begins goes beyond personal beliefs. Doctor Teitelbaum says it’s all about faith and has nothing to do with science.
