The State Senate has given final approval to a measure creating a fund that would use more technology in the delivery of healthcare services. Senate Majority Leader Charlie Shields of St. Joseph, the sponsor of the bill, says the quality of healthcare is improved if health professionals are able to cut down on mistakes. That, he says, is accomplished through the use of electronic medical records, e-prescribing, and tele-medicine. The initial government investment in the Fund would be $25-Million proposed by Governor Matt Blunt in his budget. The bill now goes to the House.
