For years she told stories of her childhood to her daughter. When her daughter grew up to become a prominent author, she encouraged her mother time and again to write down those recollections. The mother’s resistance finally weakened and she wrote eight books about her life, the life of her husband, and her family. Today those books are a treasured part of children’s literature and Laura Ingalls Wilder is one of Missouri’s most famour authors.
