A very odd streak has come to an end for Saint Louis University. Actually it was a lack of a streak that made the statistic so odd. SLU ended a 21-game stretch without a consecutive win or loss by topping Rhode Island 58-53 on Wednesday. SLU’s defense held Rhode Island to 20-of-62 shooting (32.3 percent).

The Billikens were able to put together a 36-23 lead by the half, thanks to a 50 percent performance from the field in the first half. They needed their good defensive effort, as the offense dried up to 27.8 percent from the floor in the second half.

Kevin Lisch led the Billikens with 18 points and Anthony Drejaj scored 14 for SLU. Will Daniels and Terrence Mack scored 13 apiece for Rhode Island.

SLU moved to 11-9 overall and 5-3 in the Atlantic 10, while Rhode Island dropped to 11-8 and 5-3.
