Federal court oversight of the Jackson County Child Welfare Agency’s operations has ended. The court has been involved since 1977, when a class action lawsuit was brought against the state claiming that the Division of Family Services’ practices violated foster children’s rights. The courts will now stay out of the operations of the Jackson County Children’s Division as long as it meets the terms set forth in a consent decree.
