Governor Matt Blunt’s proposal to put up for sale the state’s student loan authority to private companies is being welcomed by some students in the state. John Andersen is a junior at the University of Missouri in Columbia, and serves as the student body president. His only concern was the prospect of interest rates going up. Ryan Sivill serves as the student member to the Missouri State University Board of Governors. He gives the plan a resounding endorsement. Both Andersen and Sivill believe the money to be raised from the sale – and already promised to colleges and universities in the state – will go a long way to help higher education.
