Herman Edwards’ staff in Kansas City is coming into focus. On Monday he retained three assistants from Dick Vermeil’s regime and added three newcomers. The three assistants who will remain in Kansas City are strength and conditioning coach Jeff Hurd, assistant strength and conditioning coach Billy Long and defensive assistant Darvin Wallis.

The three additions are linebackers coach Don Blackmon, offensive line coach John Matsko and special teams coach Mike Priefer. Blackmon spent the last three seasons as the linebackers coach for the Bills. He was also the linebackers coach for the Falcons from 1997-2000 and was the team’s defensive coordinator in 2001. Blackmon has also served as the linebackers coach for the Patriots, Browns and Giants.

Matsko spent the last seven seasons as the offensive line coach for the Chiefs and held the same position with the Cardinals, Saints and Giants.

Prefer was the assistant special teams coach with the Giants and was also a special teams assistant with the Jaguars.
