The lawyer for the groups opposing the stem cell research protection measure says he will meet with his clients this week to decide if they want to appeal a Cole County judge’s decision to allow the measure to go forward. Kevin Theriot had argued that the measure is misleading because it purports to ban all human cloning, but allows somatic cell nuclear transfer, a type of cloning in his clients’ minds. But Donn Rubin with the Missouri Coalition for Livesaving Cures, proponents of the measure, says the plan to collect signatures will move forward. His side will need to gather 145,000 signatures by May 9th if it wants Missourians to vote on the measure in November.
