A collision in practice may leave Missouri junior guard Thomas Gardner out of action for the Tigers’ Big 12 match up with Colorado on Sunday. On Thursday, Gardner and teammate Marshall Brown dove for a loose ball in practice and Gardner’s head hit Brown’s shoulder. Brown was OK, but Gardner was diagnosed with a mild concussion. He’s been listed as questionable.
Gardner’s 20.2 points per game is tops in the Big 12. He also averages 3.8 rebounds and 2 assists per game. If he can’t go, the scoring slack could be picked up by Jimmy McKinney and Brown. In MU’s upset win over Oklahoma on Tuesday, Brown scored 21 and in their conference-opening victory over Oklahoma St., McKinney had 23. Brown (10.8 ppg) and McKinney (11.3 ppg) are the only other Tigers who have averaged in double-digits this season.
Missouri has won five in a row and are 10-4 overall and 2-0 in the Big 12. Colorado is 10-3 and 0-2.
