A faith-based prison program aimed at keeping prisoners from returning to prison upon release is coming to Missouri. Mark Early, President of Prison Fellowship, says April 1st is the target date for the Interchange Freedom Initiative to begin operating at a men’s prison in Jefferson City and the women’s prison in Vandalia. Early says the program has resulted in a dramatic drop of return visits by prisoners in those other states. Prison Fellowship has raised about half the $650,000 annual budget to run the program. Early expects 200 male prisoners and 200 female prisoners to eventually participate in the program.
