Quinton Day had a high-scoring night for UMKC, however it didn’t translate into a win for the ‘Roos. They were out-paced on the road by Southern Utah 97-63 on Monday. Southern Utah opened the game by taking a 15-1 lead and the T-Birds’ lead never dipped below 11 points the rest of the way.

Day was 5-of-19 from the floor, but converted 13-of-14 free throws. Brent Stephens scored 11 points and Kalu Guasco had 10 for UMKC. No other ‘Roo had more than six points. UMKC shot 27.3 percent from the floor on Monday.

Meanwhile, SUU shot lights-out, hitting 62.7 percent of their shots in the blowout win. Rand Janes led Southern Utah with 23 and Lubor Olsovsky had 19.

UMKC dropped to 4-7 overall and 1-1 in the Mid-Continent Conference, while SUU improved to 2-11 and 1-0.
